Board Connection

Every time an Arduino is plugged into a computer through the serial port, Windows will try to install a driver to correctly 'recognize' the device. Although the computer may be able to install a driver and connect automatically after a few moments, sometimes the right driver cannot be found. This might be the case if you are not using a genuine Arduino. 

Once the board has been recognized, a pop-up in the lower right hand corner should appear, similar to below-

Once the board has been recognized and software has been installed, you can now instruct the IDE where to look to find the board-
